Welcome to the
Winchester Massachusetts Rotary Club
Thank you for visiting our web site! I invite you to view our numerous sites so you can become familiar with the many services, projects and activities that we are so proud of!
As you may already know, Rotary is an international organization of business and professional persons, united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill m and peace in the world. Our motto, “Service Above Self” is the commitment we apply to every project and activity we become involved in.
Rotary was founded in 1905, by Paul P. Harris, an attorney who wished to capture in a professional club the same friendly spirit he had felt in the small towns of his youth. The Rotary name derived from the early practice of rotating meetings among members’ offices. Today, 1.2 million Rotarians belong to over 32,000 Rotary Clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.
The Winchester Rotary Club was chartered on April 5, 1927 and has been an active and dedicated service organization in the community since then. Please go to the Club History to get a more detailed account of the many ongoing and annual projects we are involved in.
I am honored to be able to serve as President for 2014-2015 and look forward to working with the dedicated, long standing, committed membership at the local, district and international level.
This year’s Rotary International theme is “Light Up Rotary”. What a wonderful challenge! My goals, in support of this year’s theme, are to be more visible in the community, expand our service projects, continue to award grants and scholarships to qualified and deserving organizations, individuals and students and to increase our membership. If you are interested in joining our Rotary Club and/or would like to be our guest at one of our luncheon meetings, please contact me at President→at←WinchesterRotary.org.
