Club News Sept 18 & 25

Club News:

  • Thanks to our own “Team Rotary” for walking in the Tony Triglione Memorial Walk last Sunday. Kudos to Bob & Diane Lord, Donna Denio & Bruce Conklin, Angela Pinette, and Judy & Joel Katz!! This event was our September Service Project.
  • Happy Dollars for the first quarter of our Rotary year will be donated to the Winchester Sports Foundation in memory of Patrick Gill. Thank you to Kenan Nacar for this timely suggestion – the motion was made at today’s meeting and passed unanimously by the members. The club will match what has been collected through today’s meeting and an anonymous member has offered to make up any difference to ensure that our donation be at least $1,000. The board will be considering other ideas for a memorial gift as well. The idea of an additional memorial gift beyond the happy dollar donation will be discussed at the October 1 board meeting.
  • The Chili Fest committee would welcome your assistance in approaching restaurants for chili entries. If you need more information, please contact Rich Mucci.
  • The membership committee will be starting a mentor program for newer members as well as a club challenge to each Rotarian to bring at least one prospective member to a meeting this year. The committee is also hoping to run the small business boot camp series again in the spring of 2015. The next membership committee meeting will be Thursday, October 9 at 11:15 AM at the Parish of the Epiphany. If you’re interested in being a mentor, please contact Steve Mix.
  • Our interact club is up and running for the year. Linda Doucette is looking for a few Rotarians who would enjoy working with her and these service-minded youth this year. Please contact Linda if you’re interested so that she has the support needed to keep these students active and supported. They are the “next generation” of Rotary!
  • JP Robins has stepped up to be our new Club Webmaster. We encourage you to visit the club’s website for information about upcoming club meetings (including who are our guest speakers), update your member profile, and news about upcoming events. If you have edits or news for the website or have trouble logging into your profile, please contact JP.
  • Alice Lombardo, our Rotary Foundation Chair, has kicked off this year’s foundation campaign. Laurie asks that you please join her in supporting the Rotary Foundation by making your own gift, in whatever amount is comfortable to you. Checks can be given to Alice at upcoming meetings, mailed to her home (666 Main Street #308, Winchester) or donate online here.  Please help our club increase its 31% giving over last year and thank you!
