ROTARY CLUB OF WINCHESTER MAJOR GIFTS PROGRAM
 
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
 
Since its inception in 1927, the Rotary Club of Winchester has made numerous charitable gifts. Rotarians have funded international relief projects in addition to annual grants given to organizations based in Winchester and the surrounding communities. In general, these grants are of a modest size. In 2014, the Rotary Club established a major gifts program for grants of $10,000 and above. Major gifts provide significant and sustainable benefits for the greater Winchester Community. Grants are made when appropriate projects are presented and funds allow.  
 
GUIDELINES FOR MAJOR GIFTS 
 
  • Applicants must be charitable organizations possessing a 501(c) 3 designation. This excludes individuals in a financially needy situation or those who individually seek to do good work. 
 
  • Applications are restricted to non-profit organizations serving the Winchester community. 
 
  • A Rotary Major Gift Request should be accompanied by a completed application.  You will find the link to download the grant application form at the bottom of this page. Each application should also include the organizations’ most recent 990 filing.
 
  • To be eligible for a major gift, organizations must show their proposal provides the community with significant, sustainable and measurable community benefits while granting the Rotary Club recognition. 
 
  • Major gifts cannot be used to fund salaries or other on-going administrative expenses.
 
  • We encourage requests for major gifts that fall into one of Rotary’s six areas of focus: promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children or supporting education 
 
  • Recipients are expected to provide the Rotary Club with a follow-up report regarding the impact of Rotary’s grant.
 
  • Grant application may either be emailed or mailed to the Chair of the Major Gifts Committee; email and physical addresses are listed on the grant application.
 
MAJOR GIFTS  PROGRAM ANNUAL CYCLE
 
 
Submit applications March 1 to April 15 
 
Applications reviewed April 15 to June 1  
                  Review of applications may include interviews by representatives of the Major Gifts Committee 
 
Applicants notified of grant status no later than June 30th

COMPLETED APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY DUE DATE FOR CONSIDERATION
