As most of you know, our new International Rotary President, Jennifer Jones, has committed to building a Rotary world "where people unite and take action to create lasting change." In support of this goal, Rotary Clubs are reviewing their current and establishing new operating programs and procedures to value diversity and celebrate the contributions of people of all backgrounds, regardless of their age, ethnicity, race, color, abilities, religion, socioeconomic status, culture, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Our Rotary District 7930 has been incredibly proactive in developing programs, policies, procedures, and specific aggressive recruitment efforts to ensure that our membership represents the diverse environment we serve. Many activities are already in place and available for implementation and internal/external communication. Before doing that, we need a formal document confirming our commitment to D, E, and I and identifying the necessary actions and activities for its success.
So, I am reaching out to you, our members, and asking for volunteers who want to work with me and others to implement a competitive D.E and I policy program. I am available to discuss this with individual members or small groups if you are interested in serving on this committee. I may be reached at: walsh424@verizon.net. Please include a contact number or address where I may call you.
Thank you! Exciting times are ahead!
Marnee Walsh, Chair, D.E.and I.
